Jeff
is willing to accept cases from the list members, consider them, and
possibly post them as the case of the month. A few stipulations must put on this idea:
1. I reserve the right to use or not use the case. Do not take it
personally if I don't use your case. If every member of the current
8/00 list sent me one case one time, I'd have over 80 cases...enough for about 6
years. In 6 years, I may be living in the Marquesas Islands, sipping rum
drinks for breakfast. So...If I think your case/call has a valuable learning
point, I'll try to include it. But don't get your feathers ruffled if I
don't.
2. I reserve the right to edit or remove items from your post as I see fit
to be more applicable to the Peachtree List. Some people have a tendency to
include too much information, and we don't want 7 page e-mails to be the
norm. I will rarely, if ever, add information as that will possibly alter
the actual case, and I want this to be a review of "real life" calls, but I
reserve that right as well.
3. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE respect the confidentiality of the patient
and DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, include personal information in the
post. No names, no addresses, no birthdays (age is fine), no phone numbers,
etc. Please.
4. The post should include some or all of the following information:
~ Age/sex of patient,
~ Chief Complaint,
~ History (medical history and event history),
~ Assessment findings,
~ Dispatch information (i.e. How the call came in to 9-1-1....what was the dispatch complaint?),
~ Time of day,
~ Weather,
~ Crew configuration (dual medic, EMT/Medic, dual EMT,)
~ Other responders (i.e. Fire Engine, First Responders, Police/Law Officer),
~ General location of call (House, office, nursing home, Recreation complex,)
~ Transport time.
If you can scan EKGs, that's great.
If you do not have a scanner, they can be sent to Valerie for
scanning. If not, that's fine too. If you have some special equipment/treatment available, i.e. CPAP,
thrombolytics, RSI, etc,
you may wish to include that. You needn't include all of this information,
only what you feel is relevant.
5. Remember to be adult and write and act in a professional respectable
manner. Vulgarity, racial slurs, etc. will not be tolerated. Period.
6. Any and all questions should be directed to me.
I have set up a separate e-mail account for receiving posts...please send
them to
PMedic1998@yahoo.com
You may start sending your interesting calls anytime. Please let me know
what you think of this idea. If the majority of the list would rather not
have this available, I'll remove it.
Regards,
Jeff Brosius
